I've been tagged!

I've been tagged by Joanna and Jaime for the same meme...I've done my best to come up with 7 things nobody knows about me although it's been very hard since I'm such an open book (and I honestly have a hard time thinking of anything that incredibly interesting about myself!!). Here's my attempt...

Here are my rules:

1. Link to your tagger and post these rules on your blog.

2. Share 7 facts about yourself on your blog, some random, some weird.

3. Tag 7 people at the end of your post by leaving their names as well as links to their blogs.

4. Let them know they are tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.
A. When I was around the ages of 2 to 4 my grandma watched me during the day while my mom worked. I grew to love the shows The Price is Right, This Old House...I grew up watching country line dancing, fishing shows, baseball and Julia Child. My mom and husband very much dislike these sorts of shows, with the exception of baseball and fishing for my husband. When I started preschool at about 4 years old I would cry in the morning because I knew The Price is Right was on and I wanted so badly to be sitting there with my grandma watching our show together.

B. As I've gotten older, I now hate being wet. I love the feeling of being clean, but I LOATHE getting wet. Every morning right after I get up as I'm sitting there on the toilet trying to wake up, I think to myself "GOD I wish I didn't have to wash my face..." I even dislike swimming unless it's really scorching hot outside and I need to cool off. I just HATE the feeling of being wet! (Which is odd seeing as how I wash my hands a million times a day.)

C. I have this insane fear of someone being in my house that shouldn't be there. Ever since I saw the episode of CSI where there was a man living in women's attics and peeking down through little drilled holes in their ceilings to stare down at them while they slept, showered etc. and then finally came down and murdered them...yea I've had a bit of an issue with that. It really didn't help when we moved into our townhouse and there were holes drilled in the ceiling in each room. I'm always imagining I hear somebody making noise up there and I'm always staring up at the holes to see if I can see anything. I even had this horribly scary dream one time about the people in the attic talking to me through the vents in the house, telling me they were going to take Hailey and I to a "better place" and I couldn't get out of the house--the fear I felt in that dream was so horrible I woke up having a panic attack and called my mom and packed Hailey up and went to her house. D was out of town at the time. When we moved in to the townhouse I had my father in law come over and hook my attic door shut so nobody in the attic could get it open. That episode was also the main reason I had to quit watching CSI.

D. I've always wished I could sing. Like really really sing. I LOVE singing. I just have a HORRIBLE singing voice. I won't sing in front of anybody. Not even my mom, husband or sister. I wouldn't even sing at the Garth concert we went to where it was so loud nobody could've heard me. Recently I started singing some in front of Hailey. She yells at me "Don't sing Mommy! Be quiet!" (Now of course this doesn't include singing songs like Old McDonald, Jingle Bells, The Animal Fair, Jesus Loves Me and Jeremiah Was a Bullfrog--or Joy to the World, whatever it's called--I'll sing those to Hailey any day...I mean like radio songs, to music). When I'm in the car by myself sometimes if I'm in the mood for music I'll put in a CD and sing so loud...I like to dream about going on American Idol. LOL

E. Like Jaime, I love all things 80's. I really miss the 80's. I loved everything about it. The comfy clothes, the awesome music, the toys...everything. I still have all my slap bracelets, troll dolls and cassette tapes. I love stretchy pants and big comfy sweatshirts. Things felt a lot simpler in the 80's. I really miss that feeling.

F. The butt of my jeans is always bagging to where I look like I dumped in my pants. Then I sit down and my butt crack pops out. It's a joke in my family. Hailey likes to walk up and poke her finger in my butt crack and say "I see you butt!" in a singsongy voice. No I don't wear ultra-low waisted jeans. I can't wear high waisted or belts because of my stomach issues. My butt crack baring is incredibly embarrassing so I'm constantly pulling my shirt down as I sit.

G. I actually do have hobbies, I just never get to do them. I LOVE bike riding. I wish I could get really into it, like biking long distances and have a really nice bike. A perfect day would be biking along the trail that runs through a little town near here along the bluff tops for hours in the Spring or Fall (with a stop at the winery for a bottle of wine and meat/cheese/fruit basket, YUM). I also LOVE photography. If I was rich I would have an incredibly nice camera, dark room, enlarger etc. I took photography in high school and showed real promise with my pictures. It really irritates me that I can't afford a good digital to get the same quality pictures as I do with my 35 mm...I don't have the patience to wait for film to be developed. If I could I would be a professional photographer. Not in a studio, but for like publications and just selling the prints etc. Another thing I got from my grandma, I love to do Fill-Ins. You know, like crossword puzzles except they just give you the list of words and have you fill it in where you think they go. I love gardening. In the spring time every year we make a trip to the farmer's market and load up our car with all kinds of pretty flowers and then spend the rest of the day planting. Unfortunately we've never lived anywhere we could plant anything in the ground so we've always had tons and tons of pots around. I plan on doing that this year with Hailey and am so excited! I'm going to start letting her pick out a new pot every year and dating it. By the time she moves out she will have accumulated enough pots for her own patio full of flowers!

So there you go, that's about all I could think of for the time being. I think most everybody I know how has probably been tagged for this one at some point some I'm just going to say if you want to do this, go for it! Leave me a comment that you did so I can go read your answers!

Everybody already knows I'm weird, but...

I'm finally getting around to Kristin's tag! I've been thinking about this thing for like a week now(or has it been longer???) and honestly it's been hard to come up with 7 random or weird things about myself because I'm such an open book! I've already shared so much of my weirdness! I figured I better just go ahead and try to do it, or I'll probably be trying to come up with things still a month from now... So, without further ado, 7 weird or random things about myself(that I can't promise you haven't heard before)...

Rules:

1. Link to the person that tagged you and post the rules on your blog.
2. Share 7 random or weird things about yourself.
3. Tag 7 random people at the end of your post and include links to their blogs.
4. Let each person know that they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.

Seven random/weird things about me:

  1. I don't like milk chocolate...I can put up with white(which my friend constantly points out is NOT chocolate, it's candy--who cares!), and I LOVE white chocolate covered strawberries...but my favorite is dark chocolate. I love the sweet yet bitter taste...I could eat it every day. I am SO looking forward to the dark chocolate covered apple slices on the fruit bouquet at my sister's wedding tomorrow!!!! If you haven't tried this, you so should...
  2. I wish my husband had an awesome, well paying job so we could afford a house and like 10 kids. I know I'm crazy, but growing up it was just me and my mom...my siblings are all half or step siblings, and lived with my dad...so I've always wanted a huge family. I love those shows on TLC about families with tons of kids(like the Duggars and Jon and Kate Plus 8--two of my fav. big families). My husband on the other hand wants no more than 2. So I'm compromising, and saying we'll have 3...and we'll see later on down the road, maybe a 4th will come along. Who knows :o) 4 would be my ideal. This is one reason my health problems make me so nervous and why I'm on my husband's butt all the time to get a good job. I feel like I deserve to live this one dream!
  3. I would love to work outside, maybe for a landscaping company. I would love to be able to do this sort of thing for a living. I don't want to RUN a landscaping company, I don't want to plan the landscaping out, I just want to do the manual labor...putting down mulch, planting things, weeding etc.
  4. I hate taking showers or baths. I LOVE getting clean, but taking a shower is such a pain! It's so labor intensive, and honestly I hate getting wet. The only reason I enjoy swimming in the summer is to cool off. Otherwise, I'd rather stay nice and dry. When I get out of the shower I'm freezing...and then I have to begin the long process of putting on lotion and moisturizer, brushing my tangled curly hair, Q-tipping my ears, etc. etc....I just find it a pain.
  5. I hate having to put on makeup and do my hair. I love the look of nice straight shiny hair, and I hate the way I look without makeup...but I still really dislike the task of doing both these things. I frequently wear my hair pulled back, and hate it every day I do. I used to not even wear makeup to work after I had Hailey, but once she started getting older I realized it made me feel so much better to have makeup on and my hair halfway decent. Today I have on full makeup(which consists of concealer, powder, blush, eyeshadow and mascara) and my hair is down and shiny and straight, and I feel great! Which leads me to #6...
  6. I have a very small/limited amount of energy every day...I have my whole life. I was never one of those kids that could bounce off the walls 99% of the day, sleep for 3 hours and be rested and full of energy again. As a kid I'd sleep for 10 hours a night if not more, and STILL feel tired the next day. I did my fair share of physical activity, running around outside, doing gymnastics and such. And I used to have a really hard time falling asleep. But when I did, I'd crash...sometimes even on the stairs or the hallway between the living and dining room... so now as an adult, I know I have this limited amount of energy and I have to plan my days accordingly. Work takes a lot of my energy. Taking care of Hailey pretty much takes up the rest of my daily supply...so extra things like housework, I have to pick and choose what's most important to me that day, and push myself to do it. Or pick the easiest thing on the days that I feel like I can't even push myself, and do those and then crash. I have no problems falling asleep at night now. And on nights I fall asleep at 9:00 and sleep straight through, I'm still not ready to get up when my alarm goes off in the morning. I hate it! If only I could find some magic trick that would give me more energy so I wouldn't feel so worn down all the time!
  7. Over time I have learned to trust my gut feelings/instincts. I'm been eerily right in the past about any strong feelings I may have. For instance ALL my life I've had dreams about the car I'm riding in going over the side of an exit ramp. But I was never overly paranoid about this. Then one day we were going to go dress shopping in St. Louis for my senior prom dress. I was beyond excited. This was my 1st shopping trip to St. Louis ever!! But I woke up that morning and ALMOST called the trip off. I woke up with a gut feeling that we shouldn't go. A scene of our car going over the side of an exit ramp played over and over again in my head. I told myself not to be silly, and we went ahead with the trip...I didn't tell my mom or D of my fears--I knew they'd just make fun of me. On the way there I had a nasty feeling in my stomach, a nervous uneasiness, even though I was really excited. Halfway through the trip we were heading to a different mall. At the last minute D told my mom we needed to take an upcoming exit. Little did we know it made a complete U-turn and headed back the other direction...going from 60 mph to a 15 mph area didn't work. Over the side of the exit we went. The whole way down, before we hit an embankment on the other side, I was screaming and all I could think was "holy shit I was right!" I was bawling, and my mom thought it was because I was scared, but I was bawling because I was scared at knowing it was going to happen, not scared at what we just went through. I've always been a paranoid person...ever since then, that's gone 10-fold. I trust my gut now, even if it means going out of my way to avoid something or putting us at an inconvenience. I don't take chances anymore!!
So, there you have it. I'm a certified weirdo! :o) Now I know I'm supposed to tag 7 people, but I'm just going to say that I tag anyone that hasn't done this yet!

Alright, so I've been tagged by Kristin...and since my mom has promised to get up with the squirt tomorrow as part of my Mother's Day gift (she's staying with me tonight since D's out of town...I was here by myself last night and didn't get to sleep til almost midnight and Hailey woke up at 6:00 this morning!!) I don't have to rush off to bed this evening and have time to do this.

Another one...this one was hard!

Ok I was tagged again, this time by Wendy...I'm supposed to list 5 things about myself that I have never mentioned on my blog before! I've been thinking about this for days, for some reason this is a really hard one for me. I'm not sure what I've mentioned and what I haven't, but I'm going to try my best!! So here goes...

1. I am deathly afraid of spiders. If there's a little bitty teeny tiny one, like I'm talking the head of a straightpen sized, I can deal with it myself. But anything else, be prepared for a lot of girly screaming and jumping about and repititions of "oh my God oh my God oh my God!!!" The second I see one, I get this creepy crawly feeling all over me and a knot in my stomach and a lump in my throat and I just FREAK OUT. I mean just look at them!! Look at a spider!! They are so freaking creepy looking! Seriously God could have made them much more cuddly and inviting. What made him think to himself "hmm, I think I will make them absolutely repulsive and frightening!"....well I guess it could be the fact that a lot of them are poisonous...ok never mind, they can stay creepy.

2. I never met any of my "real" grandfathers. My dad's dad left my grandma when my dad was very young and my grandma got remarried to the man who I call my "grandpa" today. I've always known he wasn't blood, but he's always been my grandpa regardless. My dad's real dad died of liver failure in his 30's...he was a major alcoholic. Then just in the last year my mom revealed to me that her "dad" most likely was not her real dad. Apparently my grandma was quite the wild-woman, which seems hilarious to me because she was just always this sweet ol' grandma lady to me that sewed and baked pies and watched CMT and cooking shows all day. I did always think it was odd growing up though that my mom is so much younger than the rest of her siblings and she looks pretty much nothing like any of them...they are all red/blonde w/ very fair skin, and my mom is dark skinned w/ brown hair. Her sisters teased her when she was little that she had a black daddy. Well that's most likely not too far from the truth...we don't think he was black, but he was definately not the man we thought he was all these years. My mom's "dad" died when I was 3. Kind of weird to just now find out he wasn't who I thought he was all these years...

3. The clock in my car is exactly 29 minutes fast. It started out 27 minutes fast a long time ago, as an accident...and I got used to it being that fast, so when the time changed I just switched the hour and kept it 27 minutes fast. It's slowed down a bit over time and is now 29 minutes fast. Everybody that rides in my car comments that my clock is screwed up...and then tells me how weird I am when I inform them that the clock isn't screwed up, I purpousfully put the time like that. Now, as I'm re-reading this entry, I really think this one has something to do with #5....hm...

4. I mix words and thoughts up really bad. Sometimes when I'm talking I feel so incredibly stupid. Things come out all wrong. And sometimes I forget words altogether. Simple words. It'll drive me nuts for days because I couldn't think of a simple word like "compromise" or "rake." My mom has the same problem, and I used to tease her about it as a kid...and now, oh no, I'm TURNING INTO MY MOTHER!!! AHHH!!! I feel bad I teased her all those years, because my mind works just as badly as hers does these days. Along with this, there is the fact that as well as having trouble with words/sentences, I also have trouble connecting roads in my mind. I've lived in this city most of my life, but for some reason sometimes I can't remember how to get somewhere that I've been quite a few times. I'll try to picture it in my head and I just can't make it work. This is incredibly frustrating. I feel like I'm starting to lose my mind sometimes. I really think I'm a bit dislexic. Like just now I just spelled that word "sidlexic." Lovely.

5. I'm a tad bit OCD. Which goes right along with the "weirdo" trend I've got going I suppose. I don't think I've mentioned this before...or maybe I have...well, see #4...I don't have a clue...if I have, forgive me. I've always been this way. When I was little I'd have to do things like if we were playing w/ the basketball I'd have to make a basket 5 times before I could go inside or something bad would happen. I re-check a light switch after I turn it off. I check and re-check the stove and all the locks in the house before I go to bed and before I leave the house, actually touching the burners on the stove and the oven door etc. I have to shake H's bottles out 5 times before I can fill them, or again, something bad will happen. It really sucks, it's very time-consuming. As the years go by I try to tell myself that something bad is NOT going to happen if I don't kiss Miss H the exact same # of times as I'm laying her in her crib at night. I really try to make myself do things different, just so I can break the habit, but it's really hard. Along with this, there's the fact that I'm a perfectionist. Which is why I'm so stressed all the time. I don't have enough energy(because of lack of sleep and IBS combined w/ slow digestion) to make everything perfect, so I'm constantly stressed about how things aren't perfect. I'm dealing w/ this better now than I used to, but I still wear myself out really bad trying to get everything done. A lot of times OCD and perfectionism go hand in hand.

Alright there you go, a few more peeks into my weirdness...now I'll tag NormalGirl, EmmaKirsten, Kristin, Christina and Erica.

I'VE BEEN TAGGED!!!

Checked the blogs I read for new updates before I went to bed last night, and much to my surprise I found out that I'd been tagged(by Kristin) for the first time, WOOHOO!! I don't know why this is so important to me, but it is...I'm a nerd, I know...

So here's what I gotta do....List seven songs you are into right now. No matter what they are. They must be songs you are presently enjoying. Then tag seven other people to see what they’re listening to.

So this might be a little hard for me. I don't listen to music much anymore...when I was a teen I was infatuated w/ music, my whole life was music...from about 7th grade til 10th I wore the band shirts, bought TONS of cds...it started off w/ rap, then moved on to stuff like Pink Floyd and The Doors, and alternative "grunge" like Nirvana etc....so, I think I'll kind of alter the rules of this tag a little bit, and do my seven favorite songs of all time...because like I said, I just don't listen to music much anymore. So, I'll do my best...

1. Blind Melon "No Rain"...This is by far my most favorite song in the whole wide world. I have it copied onto a few random cds and I still listen to it on repeat at least once a week in the car, singing at the top of my lungs. The lyrics were made for me. I love the beat, I love the music, I love the singer's voice...and the video on MTV was pretty awesome back in the day, with that little chubby girl in the bumblebee costume. Everything about the song puts me in a good mood, and makes me love myself for who I am!!

"All I can say is that my life is pretty plain, I like watchin' the puddles gather rain. And all I can do is just pour some tea for two and speak my point of view but it's not sane. I just want some one to say to me, I'll always be there when you wake. Ya know I'd like to keep my cheeks dry today. So stay with me and I'll have it made. And I don't understand why I sleep all day and I start to complain when there's no rain. And all I can do is read a book to stay awake. And it rips my life away, but it's a great escape. All I can say is that my life is pretty plain. Ya don't like my point of view ya think I'm insane. It's not sane..."

2. Pink Floyd "Wish You Were Here"...Love Pink Floyd...my momma introduced them to me at a young age, and it stuck. Wish You Were Here is by far my favorite song of theirs. And now it has deeper meaning for me, besides just being a good song. My cousin, who was like my brother(he was my favorite person growing up, I idolized him) killed himself my senior year in high school...at his funeral after they put his casket in the ground, his friends played that song really loud as they drove away. So now every time I hear it, it reminds me of him. It's a great song.

3. Robert Palmer "Addicted to Love"...Oldie but goodie...I don't even remember how old I was when this song came out, but I know I was still a little tot way back in the good ol' 80's. I'd be sitting there in the car w/ my mom, belting this song out as loud as I could...course I didn't understand all the lyrics, "Mineyswell face it!" I have this song on a few random cds as well, and listen to it really loud when H's not in the car and I need a good pick me up. The beat is great. And let's face it, Robert Palmer is just plain awesome!!

4. Alice In Chains "No Excuses"...Again these lyrics seem made for me. Alice In Chains is definately one of my all time favorite bands. I can listen to ALL their cds from start to finish, no skipping over any songs...I like them ALL. Shame their singer had to die. All the good ones die. My cousin that I mentioned in #2 turned me onto this band when I was very young. He is the reason I listen to a lot of what I do.

5. Nirvana "Heart Shaped Box"...It was hard for me to pick just one song by this band. It's AMAZING to me that this isn't my #1. I used to be OBSESSED with Nirvana. I mean bad. I had posters, stickers, books, tshirts(I'll never forget when I found the Sliver shirt in a thrift store, I flipped shit) 45's, all their cds. I love their music...this is another band that I could listen to all their cds from start to finish. I used to dream of being in a band like this(no matter the fact that I have absolutely no musical talent whatsoever). Now the tshirts and posters are packed away...my blue hair grew out many many years ago...the cds spend all of their time tucked safely in my cd case at home. For a couple years of my life(Frehsman, Sophomore in highschool) Nirvana was my way of life(minus the hardcore drugs!)...I'm not the same person anymore, at all. And even though I never listen to their music anymore unless the random song comes on the radio(the music holds a lot of bad memories for me) I'll always love it.

These last two are a little tough...there aren't any more songs just jumping out at me that I've loved consistently over the years, so I'll throw in two that always make me happy. They remind me of long drives in the country with my momma, on hot summer days, windows down and music blaring in our little Toyota Tercel, both of us singing at the top of our lungs(and neither one of us can sing worth a darn)...I absolutely love these memories...some of the best times in my life...

6. The Eagles "Seven Bridges Road"...I haven't heard this song in years because the only recording I have of it is on a tape and I don't have a tape player in my car. I love this song, I love the mood it puts me in, and I love the memories it evokes.

7. George Strait "Where the Sidewalk Ends"...I still sing this song to this day. My sister absolutely loves it when I put this cd in and belt it out at the top of my lungs. Makes her laugh hysterically. This song will always put a smile on my face, for so many good memories it brings, and just the general upbeat tone of the music!!

So there you have it, there's my 7. Now I have to tag 7 people??? Gosh I don't think I know 7!!! So here's as many people as I can come up with, and they may be repeats of somebody else's tags...Wendy, Christina, Erin, Emmakirsten, Normal Girl...alright well 5's better than nothing!

Ok on to my regular Monday post...

Yesterday was a pretty darn good day. 8:00am, I wake up and hear H saying "uh oh! uh oh!" so I nudge D and tell him she's awake. Sunday is supposed to be his day to get up with her. But normally I have to still get up with her and change her diaper and get her breakfast started and all that and wait til he gets "woke up" enough to take over, drives me insane. I don't get back to bed until like an hour later and by then I can't get back to sleep. But not only did he get up at like 10:00 on Saturday, yesterday when I told him she was awake, he got up, went and got her, and I never heard another peep out of them til 11:00 when H started yelling because she was getting bored! Amazing...he fed her breakfast without my help, she had a bottle, she had a short nap, he entertained her, and I got to sleep in!!! I haven't had a morning like that since before she was born...it was great.
So I got the carpet in the living room and front hallway cleaned yesterday. Surprise surprise my DAD is the one that came over to watch H while I got it done! My dad is a whole other post, but I'll just say he hasn't been there for me growing up, he's caused me a lot of problems in my life, and it's just amazing that he came over to my house to help me out like that. Thank God H actually warmed up to him this time(usually she is scared of him) and they played in her bedroom for most of the time, until she got curious and wanted to see what mommy was doing...then he brought her into the kitchen where she *gasp!* fell asleep on his shoulder! So he held her and rocked her while she slept, and I had time to take a shower and do my hair and makeup!! Then he left and my sister came over. We met my cousin(Biracial Rachel) at the mall. B.R. and I had the same shirt and shoes on...between the 3 of us, 2 of us always wear the same shirt, jeans, something, without knowing it...it's rediculous. So we walked around the mall a bit. I found H a bday present on sale at Target. A set that comes w/ one of those play tents, a blow up fold out mini loveseat thing, a sleeping bag, a tiara, wand and I think a flashlight, all in a handy duffel bag. It was only $24.99! She'll love it. Then we left and went to Olive Garden to eat and MAN did we eat. I LOVE their new baked ziti which my sister and I got. My cousin got the ravioli. For appetizers we got the spinach dip and the calamari. By the end we were STUFFED. H shared my ziti, ate a whole breadstick and a banana that I had brought. She's a little pig. After that we dropped H off at my mom's and ran across the road to Walmart. Oh evil, evil Walmart. I spent $100 and I didn't even get that much crap. Diapers, Next Step Formula, razors...crap is expensive. The one thing I splurged on was a $12 Crest teeth-whitening kit. I better have damn white teeth in 14 days. Went back and picked up H, hurried home where D had been waiting for me for 3 hrs!! I thought sure since he was practicing that he'd be gone til dark...shockingly he hurried home at 5:30 to spend time with me! And I wasn't there til 8:30, I felt SO SO SO bad. I don't know if it's because he was gone for a whole week and genuinly missed us, or the fact that I've let him get lucky every night since he's been back...hm....more sex = better husband???? Interesting... we'll see if it lasts... anyway before we went to bed he showed me fishing on the Wii, this really basic game w/ flat construction paper looking fish, that I TOTALLY ROCK at! I beat his ass so bad, and he kept restarting the game and he still couldn't match my skillz. What can I say, I'm awesome. Didn't get to sleep til after 1:00am, so I'm dead tired. Already lunch time though, where'd the time go??? Thank God the day's half over.

The closer this interview gets, I'm getting more nervous. I'm starting to want this job really bad. It would be amazing, awesome, just so great if I could get out of here and get that job. I would be bringing home more, insurance would be great, it would just be so nice. I guess we'll see...I'm still not getting my hopes up.

Alright I guess I better go do some work. And eat, it is lunch time afterall and I forgot to eat breakfast...
